Welcome to the world of matcha, the vibrant green elixir cherished for its unique flavour and myriad health benefits. Discover the essence of matcha: its origins, cultivation, grades, health perks, and cultural significance.
What is Matcha?
Matcha is a fine powder of ground whole green tea leaves. Unique from other teas, it is the only tea where the entire leaf is consumed.
They are shade grown for the last three weeks before harvesting and the stems are removed before the leaves are ground into a fine powder.
Matcha is prepared by whisking a scoop of powder with hot water until frothy.
You can consume matcha as tea on its own, as a matcha latte or in culinary delights - it is delicious in either way!
Cultivation and Grades
Our Ceremonial Matcha represents the highest grade, sourced from tender, handpicked leaves, resulting in superior colour, taste, and nutritional benefits.
Our Latte grade, while still high quality, uses top leaves from the tea plant, exceeding typical Latte grades found elsewhere.
Our Ceremonial grade, harvested in May from single origins, boasts sweetness, tenderness, and vibrant green hues, with a unique taste rich in "Umami" flavour. Our Latte grade blends teas from first and second harvests to maintain its premium quality.
Health Benefits
Unlike other forms of caffeine, matcha is rich in antioxidants, vitamins, and minerals, boosting focus, metabolism, and immunity. Its L-theanine fosters calm alertness, ideal for mindfulness.
High chlorophyll levels help detoxify and maintain a healthy pH balance. These benefits make matcha our preferred caffeine source.
We love its versatility—enjoyed hot, iced, or in smoothies and baked goods. The ritual of preparing matcha can be meditative, and its vibrant green hue and rich flavour offer a sensory delight that coffee can't match.
